Programme Description

This introductory course equips participants with fundamental knowledge of cardiac monitoring and basic ECG interpretation. Participants will understand normal cardiac rhythms, identify common arrhythmias, and recognise early signs of patient deterioration to support timely clinical intervention.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe basic cardiac electrophysiology and the cardiac conduction system.
  2. Identify ECG waveform components and normal ECG parameters.
  3. Apply a systematic approach to basic ECG interpretation.
  4. Recognise common cardiac rhythms and selected arrhythmias.
  5. Initiate appropriate nursing actions and escalation for abnormal ECG findings.
